Transform Yourself
By Fallon Coster

The ancient Chinese practice of harmony in space, Feng Shui, can be applied to more than the home and the office. Its connection with the environment and positive aura can be extended into a person’s everyday wear. Fashion Feng Shui, created by Evana Maggiore, is the harmonizing of the wardrobe to complement the environment and attract what one needs in life. The key to its success is the specially designed formula that creates a custom match between one’s character and one’s wardrobe.

The process begins with the elemental archetypes: water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. These elements are used to evaluate what one needs to wear in order to receive the desired image. The philosopher or the water element is the artistic or eccentric being. An active and driven person would be considered the pioneer or wood element. Fire is the performer who has a vivacious air about him and seeks pleasure. The earth element is the peacemaker, the person who is very giving and conservative. Last, metal is the perfectionist, always in need of high status and control.

Specialized Fashion Feng Shui Facilitators work creatively in molding the Fashion Feng Shui wardrobe around each detail of the client’s personality. This facilitator works with the client to transform his or her lifestyle so that it is more balanced and rewarding. They may work with a business owner in order to improve her appeal to consumers, or they may work with an everyday person looking to make progress in his social life. Fashion Feng Shui may be used in many different aspects of a person’s life to develop harmony and self-confidence.

Piecing together each portion of this process can be successful only if all of the components that make the client unique are taken into account. Spirit, mind, and body are the three main components used to express each characteristic that makes one unique. These three elements are connected with one’s elemental archetype to produce the picture of the persona.

The spirit element is also called the essential energy because of its great importance. This is the unconscious expression through which one visualizes the world. It encompasses one’s outlook on life and on oneself. It shows in the distinctive character that shines through one’s person, one’s clothing, and one’s confidence.

The mind element is also known as the intentional energy. This is what one purposely contributes to one’s clothing in order to appear as one wishes to appear. Each person can use this element to increase the essential energy. The image that one works to present to others can create the positive attitude and aura needed for complete balance.

The body element or the visual energy is one’s appearance, generating an energy. Physical appearance includes all of the attributes in a garment, ranging from its colors and patterns to the flow and fit. Each component of the physical appearance is used strategically to enhance natural beauty. Fashion Feng Shui uses hair, eyes, and skin color in order to create a strong appearance that will catch the attention of the audience, whoever that may be.

Fashion Feng Shui is a way of living to improve everyday life and enhance each aspect of living. Its techniques and philosophies will transform the participant’s way of thinking and life experiences for the better. It combines outer beauty and inner beauty to show who one is, who one wants to be, and where one wants to go. This creative way of dress is about more than eye appeal alone; it is about the positive changes that it causes and the goals that it achieves.
